This one, I don't know what you would call it. To make Melvin's problems worse, a woman journalist reporter, and her clunky idiot cameraman, are after the big exclusive, trying to hook Melvin with his unlikely stud of a father (Blundell).

First there was Alvin Purple, then came Alvin Rides Again, just when you thought you'd never catch sight of the purple headed monster again, along comes Melvin Son Of Alvin or as I fondly remember it known as Foreplay.

The series followed continued adventures of the title character, previously featured in the successful sex comedy feature film Alvin Purple (1973) and its sequel Alvin Purple … Undemanding viewing. He tries to avoid them and get psychiatric help but gets used by the psychiatrists as a gigolo to treat other patients instead. Directed by David Bilcock, Robin Copping.

I also point to the degeneration of the film as soon as Alvin assumes his gangster persona. The material removed featured nudity and a simulation of oral sex.
