Onset Ma, is a quaint little town, little shops and best Okay food, a little pricey I thought for the quality. The front desk "Gail's" went above and beyond to make our visit special. Our Bay Room restaurant in The Glen Cove Hotel is a most spectacular place to dine overlooking Onset Bay and the Cape Cod Canal. Although the hotel was less than 50% booked, this space tends to draw hotel guests and locals alike. No fruit. Our room was not great. Just a hour or less from Boston or Providence, you arrive at the Ocean Front Glen Cove Hotel. Bedding was not inviting. Just and FYI. When he called was told we could sit upstairs or in lounge. I considered the Benziger Cabernet totally undrinkable. Scallops were ok but wrapped in bacon(that's an app not an entrée) only 3 steak tips and 2 scallops with lots of mashed potatoes(not hot) and spinach. There's just simply a lot missing here. It's nicely appointed, entertainment was well chosen. When we arrived we were told dining room closed and had to sit in lounge. Our biggest disappointment came upon entering our room after a full day of sightseeing only to find the room had not been made up. Dollar store lamps. Our room attendant "Yolanda was very accommodating, filling our ice and giving us extra wine glasses, etc. Staff and ordering was great. This would have been a 5* rating if it was not for the wine. Lacked decor. TV's are tiny - ours had about 6 different wires hanging down below for a very ugly look. Just to be clear, the prices were not cheap - we expected a lot more for the prices we paid off-season in Onset. The food was delicious, portions were good size so we passed on dessert... Bob and Angie balance the friendliness with professionalism. Doesn't quite make a 3-star rating. Upon check-in, we were given the usual breakdown of the key system, continental breakfast hours, restaurant hours etc. Cheesecake was good. Could really shine here as the fireplaced room is lovely overlooking beautiful Onset Bay, but the food selection eliminates the desire to linger. But it was take out, so I would think 5-10 minutes travel time might have affected it slightly, I ordered a burger and paid extra for cheese (although they forgot it so no cheese added but was still charged for it), steak tips that were pretty tough and overcooked on the outside and raw in the middle, and fries that were soggy.
