When the longtime couple opened two locations of their volunteer-run Soul Kitchen … Center (Bringing Everyone All Together), a community hub where families and individuals in need can access food, job training and other resources that aim to end the cyclical cause of hunger in Ocean County, New Jersey. JBJ Soul Kitchen remains committed to the health and safety of its staff, volunteers, patrons, and community. Since the restaurants opened, 54% of meals were paid for with donations and 46% were earned through volunteering. For 13 weeks during the quarantine mandated by the New Jersey government, JBJ Soul Kitchen upheld its mission to help those struggling with food insecurity by providing grab-and-go meals to those in need.
